A Flywheel Built on Distribution, Engagement, and Efficiency
Nubank’s 2025 partnerships show a disciplined approach to growth. Instead of treating deals as marketing add-ons, Nubank uses partners to solve three hard problems at once including getting users funded, getting them to pay more often, and keeping unit economics defensible as the base scales.
Access partnerships are removing the first funding friction that kills activation
Cash deposits and withdrawals through a nationwide retail network like OXXO give Nubank a way to serve users who are still cash-heavy, underbanked, or paid in cash, especially in Mexico. That matters because a digital account that cannot be funded easily becomes a dormant account. In Colombia, integrating with Redeban to enable transfers using familiar keys reduces the complexity of bank details and makes P2P and bill flows more habitual. Together, these moves turn access into infrastructure as they shorten time-to-first-transaction and raise the probability that a user becomes an active payer.
Engagement partnerships are designed to create repeatable spend loops
The partner list clusters around high-frequency categories where discounts translate into weekly usage. iFood and Shopee push habitual, small-ticket purchases. Amazon and Azul extend the loop into bigger baskets and travel spend where instalments and higher limits matter. Importantly, Nubank routes these benefits through NuPay and its cards, which strengthens its payment rails, captures interchange and merchant economics, and trains customers to use Nubank as the default tender. The airline transfer feature for Ultravioleta customers does something more subtle as it adds premium retention value without relying on costly cash-back, and it positions Nubank as a rewards hub that can compete with legacy premium cards.
Efficiency and scale partnerships protect margins as the user base grows
The OpenAI partnership is aimed at a cost curve problem. As the customer base grows, support demand rises in parallel unless automation improves resolution speed and agent productivity. GenAI-assisted call-centre workflows and search reduce handling time and improve consistency, which directly impacts unit economics at Nubank’s scale. On the product side, Ripple integration and expanded USDC rewards with Circle keep crypto activity inside Nubank’s ecosystem rather than leaking to external exchanges.
